dfpc have invested heavily in the play area
Stop Press: The rocking horse will be back. It was removed over concerns about rust near the rockers and was found to be in worse condition than expected after it was shot blasted. Karl Easterbook has the contract to refurbish it and we hope to see it back in the Play Area soon.
DFPC have raised funds for and implemented the first 2 Phases of a 4 Phase upgrade project.
The DFPC Sub-Group in charge of the Play Area improvements comprises:
Councillors Mark Renders, Wendy Stones and Gregg Manning.
Phase 3 is for the older children and is planned to be the installation of a gazebo type shelter as a meeting point in the south west corner; goal posts in the north west corner; a basket ball hoop in the north east; and a pyramid rope scramble frame on the west side near the gazebo. Discussions are ongoing with potential suppliers and, once the design and cost has been agreed, we need to apply for grants. Consequently, we anticipate installation sometime in 2016.
Phase 4 is very conceptual at this stage. DFPC would like to install a skate park in the village to meet popular demand. Negotiations on suitable sites and grant funding are expected to be complex and DFPC does not expect to start working on this in detail until Phase 3 is complete.
