WINTER ROADS FAQ

Parish Road Snow Clearance
The DCC Highway Authority is under a duty to maintain the highway and, in particular, to ensure, that safe passage along a highway is not endangered by snow or ice and to remove snow that is causing an obstruction so far as is reasonably practicable.  See more at: http://www.devon.gov.uk/winterservice-faqs#sthash.IodhgZoQ.dpuf
SNOW & ICE FAQ

If your local grit bin is empty of salt/grit please telephone 0845 155 1004 and give the reference number on the label inside the lid. If there is not a label, please give a clear location to the DCC member of staff. They will arrange for the contractor to attend to it and re-fill the bin as soon as resources become available.  For more information on grit bins click on the button on the right.

I Want to Help
DCC employs other contractors and farmers to help clear snow, but contractors and farmers must be employed by our highways contractor in advance of undertaking any work. If contractors and farmers work on the road and come to DCC afterwards for payment, it will be considered that they have carried out that work on a voluntary basis.
If you are a  contractor or farmer willing to carry out snow clearance work please contact our highways contractor SWH with your details. Tel: 01404 821500  Web: www.swhltd.co.uk
If you have a 4 x 4 and wish to help please contact the police with your details as they are responsible for coordinating any offers of help.
Further information is available by clicking on the button on the right.
